STATEMENT BY HIS EXCELLENCY HON. WILLIAM KABOGO , GOVERNOR OF KIAMBU COUNTY IN RESPONSE TO THE PROPAGANDA MESSAGES IN CIRCULATION ON SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

It has come to my attention, that there is a message going round in major social media and online platforms stating,  that I uttered words that were insulting to women.

I hereby strongly condemn the said words that are being maliciously propagated by my political opponents. It is well known that, I William Kabogo holds all women in high regard and the said statements intend to portray a false image of my candidature.

Since my Government took power in 2013, I have put in place various programs to empower and uplift our women socially, politically and economically:

We created a  Ksh. 300 Million Kiambu Biashara Fund whose primary goal, was to empower WOMEN, youth and Persons with Disability. We have so far constructed over 30 new Mother to Child Health Care clinics across the county. Ksh.800 Million Maternal and Reproductive Health Care Clinic at Thika Level 5 Hospital. We have also issued over 300 Green houses and water tanks to over 1000 women groups across the County. My cabinet constitutes of  6 women out of 10 positions. This is  clear evidence and shows that my commitment to empower women is definately unquestionable.

The action of starting such propaganda shows that our political detractors cannot stand our commitment towards good governance and our transformational agenda in Kiambu County. They have also sensed defeat in the upcoming Nomination exercise and that is why they are busy bringing up sentiments and emotions that will make us lose focus on our goals.

LET US not give in to their distractions lest we be relegated to their level.

I would also like to reiterate to the residents of Kiambu County and the Country in general that I am unequivocally committed to spearheading  and supporting any initiatives that aim at empowering the women as in the past.
