Seven arrested over ballot stuffing in Narok ODM primaries
Seven people, including a parliamentary aspirant, were on Saturday, April 14 arrested in Narok County after they were allegedly found stuffing ballot boxes at Kilgoris polling station.
The seven are currently being held at Kilgoris CID headquarters for questioning over the pre-marked ballot papers they were allegedly found stuffing in ongoing ODM primaries.
The arrested aspirant, Peter Oiboo Morintat, is competing with two other aspirants for the Kilgoris Constituency seat.
The suspects were found at a hotel in Kilgoris town with marked papers for women representative and Kilgoris constituency.
The incident takes place just a day ODM National Elections Board canceled nomination results in Busia County citing rampant electoral malpractices.
Governor Sospeter Ojaamong victory was nullified moments after being declared the winner following complaints by his competitor, Paul Otuoma, that the incumbent engaged in runaway vote rigging.
Major parties in the country are facing a litmus test to conduct credible primaries ahead of the August 8 polls due to cut-throat competition for their tickets.
