Over 60 Kenyan Tech Experts Gather in Ireland for Diaspora Networking Forum

Kenya’s diplomatic mission in Ireland held a networking forum on Saturday, 11 July, bringing together more than 60 Kenyan professionals working in the country’s technology sector.

Ambassador George Morara Orina, MBS, urged participants to use their expertise and international experience to support Kenya’s development. The event formed part of the embassy’s efforts to strengthen engagement with Kenyan professionals living in Ireland.

Many of those who attended work for major technology companies, including Google, TikTok, Meta, Facebook and Microsoft. The initiative supports the Kenya Diaspora Policy 2024 and the Kenya Diaspora Investment Strategy, which aim to strengthen the role of Kenyans abroad in national development.

The forum also gave participants an opportunity to share professional experiences, discuss career opportunities and receive updates on consular services. The embassy said the event was intended to strengthen the Kenyan professional community in Ireland while encouraging members to contribute to the country’s progress.

“The professionals were encouraged to use their knowledge, skills and experience to contribute to national development while supporting one another as a united Kenya professional community,” the embassy said in a statement.

The discussions focused on the contribution skilled diaspora communities can make through innovation, investment and knowledge sharing. Kenyan professionals living abroad already support the country through mentorship, investment partnerships and skills exchange programmes. The embassy said these efforts should be expanded and aligned more closely with national priorities.

Ireland’s established technology sector and the presence of multinational companies provide opportunities to strengthen these links. The forum is part of wider outreach by Kenya’s diplomatic missions to build stronger relationships with diaspora communities.
