ODM aspirant embarrasses Raila badly, rejects direct nomination

An aspirant has rejected a free offer from ODM leader Raila Odinga – The politician who is vying for a parliamentary seat says he is not interested in the ODM party’s direct nomination that he was given by Raila Efforts by ODM leader Raila Odinga to give a direct nomination to an aspirant have hit a snag.

This is after the politician rejected the offer saying he was not interested in the Orange party at all.

Kimilili MP aspirant Didymus Barasa also revealed how Raila had approached him with a promise that he would fund his campaigns should he accept to run on an ODM ticket, an offer that he turned down. According to the Star, Barasa says he is no longer a member of Raila’a party and that he will not accept the direct nomination.

He added that he is in the rival Jubilee to stay saying that he did not know how he was listed as a member of ODM without his consent. “I am solidly in Jubilee. I am surprised that ODM decided to give a non-member direct nomination. When they approached me, I told them that I am in Jubilee. I wonder how they fraudulently registered me,” Barasa is quoted by the Star.

He was among the hundreds of aspirants who were given direct nominations by Raila ahead of the August 8 elections. The move left a section of aspirants bitter among them ODM nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro who has defected from the party following the Raila move. Read more: https://www.tuko.co.ke/
