Maryland State Police are investigating the fatal crash of a single vehicle in Harford County Saturday afternoon.
A Joppa man died Saturday afternoon in northern Harford County in a crash police said alcohol was a factor in.
Nicholas Wanga, of the 500 block of Terrapin Terrace was driving a 2006 Nissan Sentra west on Norrisville Road west of Madonna Road around 4:10 p.m. Saturday when, for unknown reasons, the right tires went off the road, according to a press release from Maryland State Police.
The Sentra hit a driveway edge and spun around to the right, then slid into a utility pole, hitting on the driver’s side.
Mr. Wanga was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Alcohol was present and troopers are investigating to determine if it was a factor in the crash, according to the release, which indicates speed did not appear to be a factor.
Norrisville Road was closed for about an hour after the accident.
