🇰🇪 Congratulations to Dr. Monica Kathina Juma on her historic appointment to one of the United Nations’ most influential leadership positions.
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed the distinguished Kenyan diplomat as the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV). She has officially assumed office with the rank of Under-Secretary-General.
In her new role, Dr. Juma will lead global efforts to combat transnational organized crime, corruption, terrorism, and drug trafficking while overseeing the UN Office at Vienna.
Dr. Juma brings a wealth of experience to the position, having previously served as Kenya’s first National Security Adviser and Secretary to the National Security Council (2022–2026). She also held key Cabinet positions, including Cabinet Secretary for Defence, Foreign Affairs, and Energy.
Her appointment is a proud moment for Kenya and a testament to the growing impact of Kenyan professionals on the global stage.
