Kenyans who have been living illegally in Saudi Arabia have been given a 90-day amnesty or face deportation.The Kenyan embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia urged culprits to take advantage of 90-day amnesty period and leave voluntarily.“We urge all Kenyans to adhere to the rules and refrain from engaging in acts that will endanger their legal status in the kingdom,” the embassy said in a statement.Kenyans who agree to leave will be taking advantage of the ‘A Nation With Violators‘ amnesty campaign initiated by the Kingdom.AVOID PENALTIESThe campaign allows those in the country illegally to avoid penalties and fines relating to various immigration laws by going back to their home countries.The deputy ambassador to the Kingdom Ibrahim Adan said the embassy is ready to assist Kenyans meet the 90 day deadline if they wish to take advantage of the amnesty and return home.Those wishing to leave will be issued with emergency certificates if they do not have their passports.“We are optimistic that many Kenyans, majority being house helps who have run away from their employers, will take advantage of the amnesty and leave the kingdom without facing any penalties or legal actions,” Mr Ibrahim said.Those intending to leave must have a valid passport or emergency certificate, air tickets, and exit visas.
