Kenyan Students Invited to Apply for Malaysia’s Fully Sponsored Postgraduate Scholarships

Malaysia has opened applications for its fully funded Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) scholarships, offering students from developing countries the opportunity to pursue Master’s degrees beginning in September or October 2026.
The Kenyan Ministry of Education said it received the scholarship announcement through the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs. The scholarships will be available for the 2026–2027 academic year and are aimed at strengthening educational and diplomatic cooperation between Malaysia and partner countries.
Successful applicants will receive full tuition funding, living allowances and a return air ticket at the end of their studies. The programmes will last between 24 and 36 months and will cover coursework, mixed-mode and research-based Master’s degrees.
The scholarships are available across a broad range of fields. These include Information and Communication Technology, Economics and Trade, STEM disciplines, Food Security and Agricultural Technology, Islamic Finance, Law and Public Administration, and Sustainable and Environmental Sciences.
Applicants must hold at least a second-class upper division undergraduate degree and be no older than 45 years. Applications opened on 4 May 2026 and will close on 12 June 2026. Interviews for shortlisted candidates are expected to begin on 6 July, while successful applicants will be announced on 3 August 2026.
The MTCP scholarship programme forms part of Malaysia’s efforts to support capacity building and professional development in developing countries. Through postgraduate education, the programme promotes knowledge exchange and strengthens relationships between Malaysia and participating nations.
The opportunity comes as Kenya continues to encourage students to pursue international study options that complement local higher education. Graduates seeking advanced training in areas important to national development are expected to show strong interest in the programme.
Applications must be submitted online through the MTCP scholarship portal. The Ministry of Education has encouraged eligible candidates to apply and take advantage of the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies abroad.
