Kenyan Family in Texas Mourns 10-Year-Old Son After Fourth of July Drowning

A Kenyan family in Texas is mourning the death of their 10-year-old son, Collins Namaswa, who died after drowning during Fourth of July celebrations.
He had been receiving treatment at Texas Children’s Hospital following the incident.
Collins was involved in a water accident on 4 July and was airlifted to Texas Children’s Hospital, where medical teams tried to save his life. Despite their efforts, he died from his injuries.
His family described him as a joyful and respectful child whose warm smile and kind nature left a lasting impression on those who knew him. Teachers and classmates at Autumn Creek Elementary School are also mourning his death, remembering him as a friendly and gentle pupil.
The family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral and burial costs and ensure Collins receives a dignified farewell. They said every contribution would help and asked those who are unable to donate to support them through prayers and by sharing the appeal.
In a statement, the family said: “Your kindness, your presence and your continued prayers mean more to our family than words can express.”
