DEFENCE Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo on Saturday said plans to construct a wall between Kenya and Somali will go on despite resistance from Somalia.
Omamo said the wall is part of the government’s initiative to stop external threats.
She was speaking at the opening of the national security sector consultative forum in Mombasa City on Saturday.
Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations chairman Gethinji Ndung’u said: “The issue of securing the border of any country is not a matter of consultation; it is a mandate of the executive.”
The proposed Kenyan wall is inspired by the wall between Israel and Palestinian territories, pictured above.
