Dr. Monica Kangethe sheds a tear, overwhelmed by the love showed to her as she was crowned the Kansas Queens Night,Queen 2016
RE: QUEENS NIGHT MINISTRY INTERNATIONAL USA
It was an honor to host the 7th Queens Night event in Kansas State, led by a very hard working Kansas City committee (Pauline Waiyoho, Evah Riungu-Chege, Mary Maina, Damaris Ndegwa, Jane Kahugu, Faith Langat, Evelyn Waiyoho and Monica Kangethe) that have spent hours and sacrificed family time and finances to make this event a success. Queens Night is a gathering of God’s lavishly loved women who we refer to as Queens. We gather to celebrate one another, to fellowship, to hear an encouraging Word that will build us, to network, to be empowered, to have fun and to be reminded that we are God’s best, and an integral part of God’s plan for mankind. Queens in Kansas came to the event elegantly adorned, joyfully expectant to celebrate womanhood. The word was on point calling unto queens to arise, putting their hands to work and hearts to God. Reverend Monica Mulinge from Mt. Zion Deliverance church Mombasa is an exceptional teacher of the Word of God and expounded on this topic eloquently. The presence of God was evident. Other speakers and presenters for the night were Ev. Emily Soroko, Stella Courtney and Gospel Artists Evelyn Wanjiru and Shiru wa GP from Kenya. Also present were chapter leaders from Dallas TX – Alice Nganga, Chicago, IL – Grace Wainaina, Oklahoma city – Mercy Muchiri, St Louis MO – Serah Waweru, Kansas City, KS – Pauline Waiyoho, and board member Musi Kiarie. Other special guests include, Dr. Jenny Lopez of Women Add Value Initiative, Frasiah Kirwa, Dr. Gee Gathuka Franklin and Pastor Ben Kangethe.

The mission of Queens Night Ministry International is to “Empower women spiritually, physically, and economically; to rebuild the women’s respect and rights as well as to raise her self-esteem and harness her power. When you empower a woman, you empower the whole family and subsequently the community.” Queens Ministry endeavors to teach, to empower, to equip and to support women, under a Godly umbrella, that they may in turn build their homes and their community. The concept of Queens Night was initiated by Pastor Joan Wairimu who passed on the vision to Dr. Monica Kangethe. From one small meeting to now 16 chapters in cities all over the USA. Dr. Monica as the VISIONARY and PRESIDENT since 2010 has worked in different States to see this vision established including, Kansas City, Boston, Minneapolis, Dallas, Houston, Seattle, Los Angeles, Oklahoma City, Chicago, Houston, St Louis to mention a few. This ministry is impacting many with a countrywide reach of over 3,000 women. It is with humility we share that we have testimonies upon testimonies of the impact Queens Night Ministry has had on the many women who have attended.
As a ministry, we are humbled in being recognized and supported by the Embassy of Kenya in Washington DC. Pastor Monica Kangethe has served as President of Queens Ministry for 6 years and in her speech, pastor said that “ I have served well and faithfully. It is my privilege to say that I have planted into thousands of women’s lives all over the USA. I have had a sense of fulfillment even as I sacrificed all for the sake of Christ. I feel that I have gone beyond sacrifice, and I can only say that besides every challenge, I have fought a good fight and kept the race. I pride in every committee and leader of every chapter who have worked tirelessly to plan events that have touched women’s lives. We have worked in unity despite the tough moments that arose from time to time. I acknowledge every chapter leader in the USA, you sacrifice much for the sake of this ministry and Kingdom of God. The Board of the directors have been very supportive in every way possible including Pauline Waiyoho our secretary, Musi Kiarie, Dorothy Schlimme, Pastor Laura Githinji, Apostle Lucy Muthami, and Catherine Gathuka Franklin.
One of the elements of a queens’ night that has become standard in every city is the acknowledgement of women who have excelled or made a great contribution to the community. We accomplish this through the giving of awards to women in the perspective city in various categories. In keeping with the tradition, at the 2016 KQN we recognized 5 women namely, Julia Ogutu, Priscilla Cherop, Miriam Sammy, Alice Karanja and Caroline Kangethe. Also honored were all the Kansas City chapter committee members and US chapter leaders who were present.
For over six years, Dr. Monica Kangethe has crowned many women at every queens night across the country. Nevertheless, the organization recognized that we had never crowned her. As such, the organization and Kansas City chapter took this opportunity to honor Dr. Monica and to crown her a queen. The chapter leaders and all the attendees lined up to love on her, hug her and shower her with gifts and love! She was overwhelmed by the love showed to her. It was a day to celebrate all she had done, her sacrifice and accomplishments in this ministry.
It was a pleasure to welcome Dr. Jenny Lopez of the Women Add Value Initiative to Queens Night. Dr. Lopez has a unique connection with the Queens Night Ministry having connected with the founder of Queens Night – Pastor Joan Wairimu back in 2009 in California and hosting a queens women gathering in her home. Dr. Jenny was present to confer a Doctorate of Humanities Degree as well as the “national leader award” recognition under Women Add Value to Dr. Monica Kangethe for her service in Queens Night Ministy from 2010 to 2016. Also honored was the Dr. Catherine Franklin with Woman Add Value Leader Partnership Award. For the leadership in their homes, community and supporting the efforts of women, Pastor Ben Kangethe and Dr. Gee Gathuka Franklin were honored with a “Men of Courageous Leadership Award”. Dr. Lopez endorsed and welcomed Queens Night Ministry to work alongside in the celebration, uplifting and support of women in the nations across the Globe.
As I hand over the position of president, I know that Dr. Catherine Gathuka Franklin will take the ministry to next level. I have worked with her very closely and I believe with all my heart that she is the person called for this work at this time. I will continue being the visionary and a mentor of Queens Ministry USA and will be there for you all. I appreciate all the chapter leaders who came to Kansas Queens Night on Friday to support this great mission.
At the 2016 Kansas Queens Night, Dr. Catherine Gathuka Franklin was recognized as the next President of Queens Ministry International USA. Dr. Catherine has served in the board of Queens’s ministry and a faithful committee member of Dallas chapter. She is a true servant of God and has a burden to empower women. She is a wife to Dr. Gathuka Franklin, a mother to their two boys, a Certified Public Accountant, professional coach and an Ambassador of the Golden Rule initiative under I Change Nations. She is also a Founder/CEO of Thrive Inc and publisher of We Thrive Magazine. One thing that stands out about Dr. Catherine is she adds value to everyone who crosses her path.
