The United States of America’s president Joe Biden has unveiled a delegation of four, who are scheduled to attend president-elect William Ruto’s swearing-in ceremony.
The inauguration ceremony will be held on Tuesday, September 13 at the Kasarani Stadium.
In a press briefing on Saturday, September 10, President Biden said United States Trade Representative, Katherine Tai, will lead the delegation.
“President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. today announced the designation of a Presidential Delegation to attend the Inauguration of His Excellency William Samoei Arap Ruto on September 13, 2022, in Nairobi, Kenya,” his briefing read in part.
The US ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman, US Representative (D), Texas Colin Allred, Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of African Affairs, U.S. Department of State Mary Catherine Phee and Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Africa, U.S. Agency for International Development Dr Monde Muyangwa will form the delegation.
On Saturday, Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho said that about 20 presidents and heads of government had been invited to the ceremony.
