I’ll Sell My $2.5 Million Property and LeaveKenya if DP William Ruto Becomes President,Economist David Ndii Says
Controversial Kenyan economist David Ndii says he is ready to sell all his property and leave Kenya if Deputy President William Ruto becomes President in 2022.
In a tweet, the National Super Alliance (Nasa) chief strategist says he will sell his property worth $2.5 million (Sh250 million) and move abroad if Ruto succeeds President Kenyatta in the next elections.
“I am on record on that. I will leave the country. If you can spare $2.5m (Ksh250 million), I’ll sell you a very good property,” Ndii says.
He adds: “I am a Kikuyu and an African. Kenya is a historical accident. Being a Kenyan is a predicament.”
The Oxford University graduate has remained a fiery critic of the Jubilee government despite the March 9th handshake between President Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Ndii, a close ally of Odinga, has particularly taken issue with Jubilee’s appetite for loans as well as the economic viability of multi-billion-shilling Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).
“Railway from hell. Looks like China has pulled out of Naivasha extension. I have maintained there was no feasibility study for SGR. Vindicated. Questions on viability of SGR refuse to go away after China cuts funding,” Ndii said in a tweet few weeks ago.
