IEBC explains the only way Kenyans will know the winner between Uhuru and Raila after August 8
Kenyans will not get presidential election results in piece meal like has been in the past, the IEBC has declared – The electoral commission will instead compile results from all the 290 constituencies before giving the final tally – Returning officers in constituencies are expected to have announced the results in their areas of jurisdiction before relaying them to the national tallying centre in Nairobi The electoral commission has now announced how it will release results for the August 8 elections. According to IEBC, it will not give periodic updates of the presidential results but will give a sum total from all constituencies. This means the commission will first collate the results from the 290 constituencies before declaring the final tally.
This is great shift from the past where the electoral body always gives periodic update thus enabling media houses and even citizens to tally results, albeit unofficially.
