I will not allow you to terrorise Kenyans, Ruto tells Raila
Says Raila has no reason to terrorise the country with violence, demonstrations and chaos.
- Ruto pointed out that he will be rewarding impunity if he were to succumb to the demands tabled by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
- He assured that the rights of those who want to protest and those who will want to go about their businesses will be protected.
President William Ruto has vowed to stop Opposition leader Raila Odinga from disrupting the lives of Kenyans with calls for mass action.
The head of State said the Azimio leader does not have concrete reasons that warrant mass protests.
“Raila Odinga has no reason to terrorise the country with violence, demonstrations and chaos. He has absolutely no reason” the President said.
He said Raila should not lecture the government about the cost of living as he is to blame for it alongside the former administration.
Ruto was the Deputy President in the Uhuru Kenyatta Jubilee administration which he has blamed for the current economic meltdown and high cost of basic commodities.
“We will not allow you. You have terrorised the people of Nyanza with violence, chaos and anarchy into submission, almost into slavery. You now want to extend to other parts of the country when you have absolutely no reason. It will not happen, we will not allow you,” he said.
The President was addressing an interdenominational church service in Nandi County on Sunday.
Ruto said that he will be rewarding impunity if he were to succumb to the demands tabled by Raila.
“I have tried to listen to him. He is telling us he does not believe in IEBC, the Supreme Court but a whistle blower. He is telling us that he wants to decide who will appoint IEBC commissioners,” he said.
The President asked religious leaders to pray for the country as he deals with Azimio leaders.
Ruto assured Kenyans that his administration will protect the lives and property of all Kenyans.
He warned the Opposition against instigating any acts of violence during the demos saying they will be dealt in accordance with the law.
“It is the number one obligation of any government. Police officers will work in accordance to the law. Our police officers are professionals and they will ensure the rights of everybody is protected.”
The President said the rights of those who want to protest and those who will want to go about their businesses will be protected.
He assured that Kenya will be peaceful even as the Opposition push for selfish interests.
