HIV and COVID-19: the story of Jerop from Kenya
WHO’s Global HIV Programme is glad to showcase a series of videos on HIV and COVID-19 on the occasion of World AIDS Day 2020. The videos were produced and published by partner organizations. This is the story of Jerop from Kenya.WHO.INT
23 year-old Jerop lives in Kasarani, Nairobi, Kenya. She was diagnosed with HIV at the age of 13 and started antiretroviral treatment at 14. Today, she is an ambassador for youth, working with young people, supporting them as they struggle with HIV and sticking to their treatment. But accepting the fact that she would have to take HIV medication for the rest of her life was not easy for her as a child. In this video, she explains why.
