Governor Wahome Gakuru involved in serious road crash
Nyeri Governor Wahome Gakuru was Tuesday morning seriously injured in a road crash at Makenji, Murang’a County.
Dr Gakuru was taken to Thika Level 5 Hospital for emergency treatment.
The accident occured at an area listed by police as a black spot.
The governor was travelling to Nairobi for a talk show.
His driver and bodyguard were also injured in the crash.
A Mercedes Benz vehicle he was travelling in was involved in a freak accident on the Thika-Kenol highway in Kabati.
Further reports indicate that the driver was rescued with crushed legs but another passenger was still stuck in the vehicle.
His driver and bodyguard also got injured.
Deputy governor Mutahi Kihiga has confirmed the accident.
