Githunguri family appeals for help after kin goes missing in UAE

A family in Githunguri, Kiambu County, is appealing for help in locating their relative, Stephen Mwangi Kimani, who has been missing in the United Arab Emirates for several months.
The 46-year-old father of two reportedly moved to Dubai in 2023 in search of employment opportunities. However, his family says they have not heard from him since last year and are increasingly concerned about his welfare.
According to his sister, Esther Kimani, all communication with Mwangi stopped unexpectedly. The family’s concerns intensified last week when Mwangi’s daughter, Eunice Wanjiku, received a phone call from an unidentified person who claimed that her father had died. The caller did not provide any details or official confirmation.
“We are worried and even more worried after someone reached out to my niece claiming that my brother died. We are asking anyone with information about him to come out,” Esther said.
The family is now trying to verify the claims made during the phone call while continuing efforts to trace Mwangi through community networks in the UAE. Esther has appealed to Kenyans living in Dubai and Ajman to share any credible information that could help establish his whereabouts.
The family says it is seeking both answers and certainty, as the lack of official information has left them in a prolonged state of uncertainty. The Kimani family is urging anyone with information about Mwangi’s situation to come forward. They can be contacted directly on 0727206365 or through Kenyan diaspora support groups in the UAE.
