Germany Opens 2027 Teaching Programme for Kenyan German Teachers

Germany has opened applications for the 2027 PAD Professional Development Programme, which will place experienced Kenyan teachers of German in schools across Germany for nearly a year.
The programme was announced by the German Embassy in Nairobi on 14 May.
Selected teachers from junior and senior secondary schools in Kenya will work in German institutions for 11.5 months. Participants will receive either a monthly stipend of more than €1,500, about KSh227,000, or an employment contract worth around €2,500 per month, nearly KSh370,000, depending on exchange rates.
The initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen educational cooperation between Kenya and Germany through professional exchange and training opportunities. It follows recent diplomatic engagements between the two countries, including the January 2026 visit by German Foreign Minister Dr Johann Wadephul, who met Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi in Nairobi.
Applicants must meet several eligibility requirements. They are required to submit certified copies of academic qualifications at NQF Level 7 or above, including bachelor’s degrees or advanced diplomas. Teachers must also hold valid registration with the Public Service Sector Education and Training Authority (PSETA) as recognised assessors or moderators.
Candidates are further required to provide service-level agreements with their institutions. Applicants with foreign qualifications must submit a South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluation certificate to confirm that their credentials meet recognised standards.
Applications must be submitted online through the official PAD portal. Candidates are required to provide personal details, academic records, teaching experience, and proof of German-language proficiency.
Supporting documents, including recommendation letters and medical reports, must be uploaded in PDF format. Some documents must also carry signatures from school principals, language advisers, or medical officers.
The German Embassy said applications will only be considered complete once all required documents have been submitted. The deadline for applications is 22 July.
