Gachagua Revisits Security Training During US Tour

DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua says he used part of his visit to Texas to refresh firearms handling and basic combat skills he acquired during his earlier career in the security sector.
Gachagua said the training was intended to maintain his personal preparedness amid what he described as rising political and social tensions in Kenya. He made the remarks as he concluded the Texas leg of his extended tour of the United States.
He also said his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, underwent introductory self-defence training during the visit. Gachagua presented the training as a practical measure, saying political leaders and their families needed to take personal security seriously.
According to Gachagua, Embakasi North MP James Gakuya and Embakasi Central MP Benjamin Gathiru also took part in the exercises. He said the activities were part of efforts to strengthen preparedness while continuing engagements with Kenyans.
The security-related activities took place alongside Gachagua’s political and economic engagements in Texas. Since arriving in Dallas in late September, the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader has met Kenyan communities, discussed investment opportunities and advanced his political agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Gachagua also held discussions with prospective investors during the visit, with the DCP saying several parties expressed interest in opportunities in Kenya. He has repeatedly described the diaspora as an important partner in national development and called for Kenyans living abroad to have a greater role in the country’s political and economic affairs.
His next stop is Boston, Massachusetts, which is expected to be the final major destination on the US tour. He is scheduled to meet diaspora groups there and continue discussions on economic reform, investment and cooperation among opposition parties.
The US visit has combined diaspora engagement, investment discussions and political mobilisation. The Texas leg ended with Gachagua and Pastor Dorcas taking part in a final horseback ride before departing for Boston.
Gachagua has used the tour to promote his political movement among Kenyans abroad while outlining his views on economic development and the country’s political direction ahead of the 2027 elections.
