FLAMBOYANT GOVERNOR JOHO TOURS THE US IN STYLE
The “Mombasa Story” we are pushing is the need for cities and nations to rethink the global war on violent extremism and terrorism.
Since his arrival in the United States, the smartly dressed Joho has, according to his official social media pages, met among others, Eric. P. Whitaker, the Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau African Affairs.
I shared the history of Mombasa as a metropolitan City and destination of choice that has embraced cultural diversity as its strength.
“We discussed the progress of devolution in Kenya and enhancing the capacity building of public administration at the County level” the Mombasa governor explained.
In a separate meeting, Governor Joho met director Ifran Saeed and Mike Duffin of the Bureau of Counter Terrorism and Countering Violent Extremism, plus Wes Carrington and Abdulhalim Rijaal of the Global Engagement Center, to discuss the progress of the Strong Cities Network and the legitimacy that Mayors and Governors continued to give the network.
