Kenya City Billionaire Dares Uhuru-Raila in Brutal Rant
City tycoon Paul Kobia tore into President Uhuru Kenyatta in a hard-hitting rant as he vowed to block the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting scheduled for Meru on Saturday, February 29.
In a video released on Tuesday, February 25, Kobia faulted President Kenyatta whom he accused of being the main stumbling block in the aborted nomination of Ann Kananu Mwenda, who hails from Meru, as the deputy governor of Nairobi.
He warned Uhuru and opposition leader Raila Odinga not to set foot in Meru to popularize the BBI report, promising to co-ordinate serious protests against the planned rally.
“Jubilee refused to give her a clearance certificate. That means the party leader, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, has rejected Ann Kananu Mwenda as deputy governor of Nairobi.
“He is the party leader and he is silent. He supports bringing BBI to Meru but when it comes to Ann Kananu Mwendwa it becomes political. I’m hearing that she’s Sonko’s person, why are they inciting people? Let them know we reject that BBI,” he asserted.
Embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on February 25 surrendered his duties to the national government with an unprecedented agreement signed at State House in Uhuru’s presence.
He continues to battle corruption charges in court with an impeachment motion tabled at the Nairobi County Assembly also looming over his head.
“What inclusivity are you talking about? When a Meru is nominated as deputy governor you block it! What inclusivity is that? Inclusivity for two tribes from Central and Nyanza?” Kobia posed.
“Don’t go to Meru. You will be blocked. You will have to bring the army from fighting Al-Shabaab to Meru to come here.
“The people of Meru have said there will be no BBI in Meru. There will be the biggest demonstration in the world,” he asserted.
Kobia also warned Governor Kiraitu Murungi against supporting the meeting, advising him to meet Raila in his house.
“This is an order. I will ensure you don’t get into Meru. I will be the operation commander. We will shut down the roads, with trees and jembes,” he warned.
Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia stated on Tuesday that he expected about 30,000 people to attend the BBI rally to be held at Kinoru Stadium.
“BBI is not about creating posts. It is about uniting this country, improving our security and improving prosperity for our children,” he stated.
