Be Social Coffee
How it Started
Our coffee journey didn’t start in a formal setting. It began when our co-founder Chris, during childhood, took summer trips to his grandparents’ farm in Muranga, Kenya, where coffee and tea were grown.
Chris was there to not only enjoy summertime with his cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents, he was there to also help out on the farm. He gained so much more than the sustenance from his grandma’s delicious meals. He witnessed and experienced firsthand how coffee is grown, picked and processed.
Looking back, those experiences helped him appreciate coffee with a newfound respect for the people who work so hard up and down the supply chain to bring us our favorite kick start to the day.
ABOUT THE FOUNDERS
Chris and Samantha Mwangi are life partners and lifelong learners, intrigued by the intricacies of coffee. Chris was raised in Kenya and Italy while Samantha was raised in New York and North Carolina. They have a son and a daughter and reside in the Charlotte, NC metro area. Chris has a background in supply chain management and will be in charge of operations and outreach. Samantha’s background is in accounting and she will oversee creative, customer service and finance.
At Be Social Coffee, we strive to connect coffee drinkers around the world through high quality, carefully sourced coffee. Coffee with a community is better. We help conscious coffee consumers contribute to a positive global environment by minimizing our impact on the planet and intentionally supporting women and people of color. People matter and our environment matters. We will contribute our little part to make the world a better place.
