Alfred Mutua might have had the best week of his political career
Alfred Mutua has had a week that can best be described as topsy turvy. The Machakos governor started it out with some sad news that he and his long-time partner, Lillian Ng’ang’a were done.
In simultaneous break-up posts, the two noted that they had decided to go their own way a few months before.
The odd thing about the messages was that while Alfred noted that it had been a mutual break-up, Lillian’s message was more circumspect with the pretty chocolate lady saying that she had decided to end it.
Who was telling more of the truth? Only the two of them know for sure? Thing is that more people were sympathetic with Lillian than with the politician, which was odd considering that they had rarely if ever had any controversy between the pair.
While many Kenyans took jabs at Mr. Mutua, the man was resolute and didn’t seem to be bothered by their antics.
In fact, a few days after the disastrous news, Mr. Mutua unleashed news that would upset his haters. The news was that he was going to be having a huge birthday bash with Rayvanny as the surprise performer.
The bash happened yesterday and it was a resplendent affair with celebs and heavyweight politicians both making an appearance.
To say that it was Mutua’s moment would be an understatement-what a difference a week had made! The man played to the gallery being the toast of the town, even trending on Twitter, once more.
But the best was to come as his ex-partner Lillian Ng’ang’a also made an appearance at the event. Most people were shocked that she had deigned to make an appearance.
Some even said that the break-up might have been a stunt, so they could maximise publicity for the event.
Whether that was the case or not, I don’t care. What I care about is how far the party will help Mutua as he bids to become the president in 2022.
This party was like a re-launch for Mr. Mutua to the Kenyan people, sort of like a coming out for the 2-time governor.
At times, in politics what will sell you isn’t what you have done but how much people like you. People can only like you if they see you, but how will they see you if nobody is talking about you?
That’s why this party was so crucial for Mr. Mutua. Kenyans can see a different side of him, one that is free and fun, something that most politicians need to sell themselves to the electorate.
But will it be enough? I don’t know…VIDEO
