We want to take this unique opportunity to thank each an everyone of you for honoring this blessed invitation
Bishops, pastors, community leaders, elders and the christian community at large.
To celebrate the rebirth of our community church St Mark’s Anglican Community Church Worcester at & 70 James Street Worcester,Massachusetts
Today we gathered here to celebrate the unveiling of a movement
A movement that has its roots to the days when we birthed ourselves as a people when we defeated the forces of degradation and dehumanization.
Several years ago and to be precise nine years ago our Pastor and Community leader Rev Kiama joined our community here in Worcester from Alabama.
He found a struggling Kenyan community that had been trying to rise but with no solid leadership and focus.
With a great experience in helping communities organize and focus to bring life changing results that leave a mark on the lives of its people.
He embarked on the great task of building confidence and skills in a small group of Kenyans in Worcester.
Under his leadership they struck a milestone in Worcester by becoming the first Kenyan community to own their own place of worship.
Along with physical development, he became a true shepherd when he mingled with all manner of people in the greater community of Worcester a thing that had not been witnessed before.
This spirit of love and community involvement saw the small group growing everyday with more and more finding hope in Church again.
The church grew to become the most vibrant community church in the city of Worcester.
In a short period Worcester and the Kenyan community here had a name that became known in all of the USA diaspora and back home in kenya.
Of course the Sanballat and Tobias were watching from a distance yet closer than was presumed.
Elements of those who were not pleased by the success and eventual growth and unity disrupted this movement.
Little didn’t they know that a vision from above is a mission of God that cannot be extinguished and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it
Like the brethren at the upper room. The Holy spirit fell upon a group of dedicated parishioners as they held prayers in a house.
Right there a rebirth was experienced and many were empowered to carry the vision of our community from despair to hope and the Gods idea of St Marks Anglican Community Church was birthed
Truly St Mark’s Community Church Worcester is a miracle that we cannot forget and our prayer was answered truly God is a present help in time of need.
Today you are looking at a work that was started in three days.
It was a Thursday night that the revelation came that we must get out and a place of worship by Sunday.
In such a short notice by Sunday morning we had raised enough money, bought equipments and requested our new parishioners to came with chairs from their houses.
That Sunday after having an overwhelming powerful service in the presence of God we raised another $7200 dollars and fully furnished our sanctuary with new chairs at our worship center at 70 James Street.
A council of 12 elders was constituted the same Sunday to guide and lead this community of dedicated visionaries.
This movement has reclaimed its own name St Mark’s Anglican community church Worcester,Massachusetts.A church that is fully registered under this name in this great state of Massachusetts.
Today we are are digging the wells of Jacob so that the community in Worcester can drink again from the fountains of our God.
The enemy poured dirt in the wells to break the cisterns but a new hope has been birthed stronger now more than ever before.
We believe in the abilities of our own community that we are well able to steer our own community in the right direction first to God and secondly to success to our families ,friends and general community.
We have heard from above “Be still and know that I am God “
Come and join us as we build a community for God rooted in unity and love for all.
Where the old can find respect and the young purpose and indeed a home far away from home.
We are St Mark’s Anglican Community Church located at 70 James Street Worcester,Massachusetts the newest church in the area.
Casting a big vision is essential to the survival of a new church, but following a plan and a strategy are vital as well
Come and see what the lord has done!
