Veteran KTN news anchor Njoroge Mwaura dies

Former KTN news anchor Njoroge Mwaura is dead.

Njoroge, 74, passed away Sunday morning at a hospital in Nairobi, where he had been admitted while undergoing treatment.

His wife, Lucy Njoroge, told The Standard that he died moments after undergoing a surgery. She did not, however, disclose the disease that was ailing him.

“After the surgery, he did not respond well. He was taken back to ICU and he passed on Saturday night, that is very early Sunday,” she said.

Njoroge started his journalism career as a young news anchor at the national broadcaster, Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).

He would later join KTN when it was established; he worked at KTN until his retirement in 2012.

Njoroge was then recalled to the station to assist during its rebranding phase before he officially retired a year later.

The TV legend was famous for his Njoroge Notebook which sought to address issues facing the nation. He is survived by a wife and four children.
