Tragic update: Waterloo family loses third child after Kenya crash

WATERLOO, Iowa — A Waterloo family is now mourning the loss of three children following a car crash in Kenya during a family vacation.
The crash occurred on January 4 on a highway near Nairobi.
Friends said the family was visiting the country on a holiday trip.
The accident claimed the lives of two boys: Emmanuel DeLeon, an eighth grader at Hoover Middle School, and Kairu Winkelpleck, a first grader.
Their older sister, Njeri DeLeon, a junior at West High School, was hospitalized initially but died from her injuries on Friday evening, according to family friends.
The parents were not severely injured. A GoFundMe page has been established to assist the family with medical expenses.
