A businessman accused of defrauding young job seekers of more than Kshs.10 million pretending that he would help them to secure jobs in Canada has been arrested.

Kingori, who operated his business at Daima Plaza along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway is accused of defrauding scores of degree and diploma holders millions of shillings with a promise of processing for them visas to enable them travel abroad for greener pastures.

He was arrested by a team of police detectives drawn from the directorate of the criminal investigation unit after a tip off from the victims aged between 25 and 30 years.

Some of the unsuspecting victims who have been camping at the suspect’s office for the last two months hoping to secure jobs abroad hail from Nandi, Elgeyo Marakwet, and Uasin Gishu and TransNzoia counties.

They are said to have parted with money ranging between Ksh.150,000 and Ksh.350,000 each to secure jobs overseas.

The Magistrate ruled that the matter be mention on March 3 for further direction.
