Somalia Wants Kenya Army To Pull Out By 2017

THE Somalia government has said the Kenya Defence Forces should pull out of the country by 2017 as part of an agreement under the African Union Mission in Somalia treaty.

Somalia Foreign Affairs minister Abdisalaan Omar on Saturday said the troops have stabilised the war-torn country since their incursion in 2011 to help the Somali government fight off al Shabaab

Speaking during a morning show on Citizen TV, Omar expressed optimism that the remaining two years are enough for the Somalia National Army to be stronger and able to take control of the entire country.

He said withdrawing the troops now is premature.
