Slovakia Announces Fully Funded Scholarships for Kenyan Students for 2026/2027

The Slovak Republic is offering five fully funded scholarships to Kenyan students for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The programme, announced by the Slovak Embassy in Nairobi in collaboration with Kenya’s Ministry of Education, aims to expand academic cooperation between the two countries. It provides Kenyan students with access to higher education in Slovakia across a range of disciplines.
The scholarships are open to applicants aged 18 to 25 and cover tuition fees, accommodation, and living expenses for the duration of study. Selected candidates may enrol in bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral programmes at public universities in Slovakia. However, recipients are required to meet their own travel costs, estimated at between EUR 800 and 1,000, and to carry additional funds for initial expenses upon arrival.
Eligible fields of study include teacher training, economics, environmental sciences, biotechnology, agriculture, and engineering. Health-related courses such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and public health are also available. Other options include forestry, veterinary medicine, computer science, and civil engineering.
All courses will be taught in Slovak. Successful applicants must therefore complete a one-year language and academic preparation course at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica before starting their degree programmes. This preparatory course will run from September 2026 to June 2027 and will be provided at no cost.
Applications are currently open. Forms are available at the Ministry of Education offices in Nairobi and on its official website. Applicants must submit completed forms and certified documents by 30 April 2026. They must also complete an online application through the Slovak Government’s scholarship portal by 25 May 2026.
The Ministry of Education has advised applicants to follow all guidelines carefully.
