President Ruto Engages U.S. Diaspora at Landmark New York Forum
Kenyan President Dr William Ruto Engage Kenyans living in the US in a Diaspora Engagement held in New York
The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Washington, D.C., in partnership with the State Department for Diaspora Affairs – Kenya, hosted a landmark Presidential Diaspora Engagement on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Convene, 30 Hudson Yards, New York, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM (EDT).
The event was graced by H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, CGH, President of the Republic of Kenya, who addressed Kenyans living in the United States directly at the New York gathering.
Also present were Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign & Diaspora Affairs, Ambassador Ida Odinga, Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), PS Roseline Njogu the Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, among many other dignitaries and officials.
A central highlight of the engagement was the official launch of the Kenya Diaspora Impact Platform (KDIP), an initiative designed to deepen diaspora engagement and expand opportunities for investment and participation in national development. The platform aims to foster sustained, meaningful dialogue between Kenyans abroad and the Government of Kenya.
The occasion, themed “A Stronger Kenya with Its Diaspora,” provided a direct forum for dialogue between the President and the diaspora community on national priorities and partnership opportunities, reinforcing the message: “Your Voice Matters, Your Contribution Counts — Together, We Build Kenya.”
Kenyans living in the US attended in a huge event. Attendance was limited strictly to pre-registered guests via diaspora.go.ke, with valid government-issued ID required for entry.
