PRE-DEPARTURE TRAINING FOR US-BOND NURSES

The State Department for Diaspora Affairs, via the Diaspora Placement Agency (DPA), today conducted a pre-departure orientation for 26 nurses holding Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees. Wednesday, July 30, 2025(NAIROBI) The State Department for Diaspora Affairs, via the Diaspora Placement Agency (DPA), recently conducted a pre-departure orientation for 26 nurses holding Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees.

This session aimed to prepare these healthcare professionals with the critical skills, knowledge, and cultural awareness necessary for a smooth integration into the US healthcare system.

Ambassador Isaiya Kabira, Secretary for Diaspora Investments and Entrepreneurship, represented Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Roseline K. Njogu, where he highlighted the importance of personal well-being and encouraged the nurses to build networks both within the Kenyan diaspora and among their future colleagues in the US, emphasizing the mutual benefits these international partnerships can bring.

Amb. Kabira also stressed the value of maintaining strong family connections, even as the nurses embark on their new journeys. The nurses are scheduled to begin departing for the United States starting in October 2025.

The event was also attended by Affinity Care CEO Zahnia Harut, Ms. Irene Karari (Director in Charge of the Skills and Expertise Division), and Mr. Polycarp Otedo (Deputy Director of Skills and Expertise Division).
