Opposition Leaders Host Birthday Celebration for Rigathi Gachagua

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was honoured on Saturday at a surprise birthday celebration organised by opposition leaders and led by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
The event brought together several senior political figures in a display of goodwill and unity. Photographs and video shared online showed three cakes arranged on a table as Mr Gachagua, smiling, prepared to cut them while those present sang “Happy Birthday”. In a light-hearted moment, he offered Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya a piece of cake, prompting laughter from attendees.
Among those present were DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, Nyandarua Senator John Methu and Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu. Their attendance signalled a measure of solidarity within sections of the opposition, with the celebration serving as both a personal tribute and a public demonstration of support. In a written message, Mr Musyoka commended Mr Gachagua’s resilience and consistency.
“Dear Rigathi, on this special day, I join all Kenyans of goodwill in celebrating you: A truthful man whose voice has never wavered even in the most turbulent of seasons,” he wrote.
He described Mr Gachagua’s record as evidence of conviction and commitment, and offered prayers for strength and wisdom in the year ahead. Earlier, Mr Gachagua’s wife, Dorcas Rigathi, shared a personal tribute. She described him as a man of integrity and distinction and expressed prayers for guidance and success in the coming year.
