Kenya’s Madina Okot Set for Historic First-Round Pick in 2026 WNBA Draft

Kenya’s Madina Okot is projected to be a first-round pick in the 2026 Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) Draft, scheduled for Monday, 13 April at The Shed in Hudson Yards, New York City.

Standing at 6’6”, Okot has been a dominant presence for the South Carolina Gamecocks during the 2025/26 collegiate season. She averaged 12.8 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, shot 57.5 percent from the field, and converted 44.8 percent of her three-point attempts.

She recorded 22 double-doubles, the joint-highest total among players in Power Conference programmes, and helped lead her team to the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship final. Okot’s rise has been unusually rapid. She began playing basketball in 2020 and has progressed swiftly to the professional level.

Her coach has praised her development and readiness for the WNBA, while Okot has described her draft opportunity as a result of years of dedication and hard work. If selected in the first round, Okot would become the highest-drafted Kenyan player in the history of both the WNBA and NBA.
