Kenyan Graduates Invited to Teach in France Through Embassy Initiative

The French Embassy in Nairobi has opened applications for the 2026–2027 Language Assistant Programme, offering 170 Kenyan students and recent graduates the opportunity to teach English in France and its overseas territories for seven months.
The initiative aims to strengthen educational ties between Kenya and France while helping participants gain professional experience and cultural exposure. Selected assistants will support French pupils in learning English and, in turn, experience life in French schools and communities.
According to the Embassy, the programme enables young Kenyans to develop teaching skills, deepen their understanding of French culture, and contribute to academic exchange between the two nations. Applications will be accepted from 15 November 2025 to 15 January 2026. Pre-selection is scheduled for January, with interviews to follow in February.
Final results will be released in May, and official postings confirmed in June. The Embassy has advised applicants to submit all required documents on time, noting that incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.
Eligible candidates must be aged between 20 and 35 and either enrolled in a university, technical or vocational training institution, or Alliance Française. They must also have completed most of their studies in Kenya and demonstrate at least a B1 level of proficiency in French.
Beyond professional development, the programme supports France’s broader efforts to promote language and cultural exchange. Participants will gain international work experience, engage with local communities, and build networks that may enhance future career or academic opportunities.
Previous participants have described the placement as a valuable experience that broadened their perspectives and opened doors to further study and employment. The Embassy encourages interested applicants to consult its website for detailed guidelines and join the official WhatsApp group for updates.
