Kenyan-born US Army Soldier Found Unconscious, Dies in Minnesota

Isaac Segera, a Kenyan-born soldier serving in the US Army, died suddenly after collapsing at a bus station in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at hospital. Segera, known to friends as “Izzo,” was recognised for his discipline, humility and dedication to his military career. Colleagues and friends describe him as a man who balanced service with devotion to his family while maintaining strong ties to his Kenyan roots. He leaves behind his wife and two young children.
In Nyamira County, his village of Bonyakoni in Ikonge, North Mugirango Constituency, residents recall Segera as an inspiring figure who encouraged others to pursue opportunities abroad. His achievements were a source of pride for the local community.
Segera’s family has appealed for support to repatriate his body to Kenya, where plans are being made for burial in his ancestral home. Fundraising efforts are underway among diaspora groups and social networks.
His death follows the recent passing of another Kenyan soldier serving in the United States, Sarah Andiki of the 492nd Engineer Company, whose funeral in Bondo, Siaya County, drew large crowds.
