Kenyan Banks Target Diaspora with Digital Services and Tailored Financial Products

Kenyan banks are expanding services for diaspora clients, offering faster remittance channels, digital account management, and tailored financial products to meet the needs of citizens living overseas.

Equity Bank leads in this sector with its Equity Direct platform, which allows secure, rapid transfers to Kenya. The bank’s digital channels enable clients abroad to monitor accounts, manage savings, and plan investments.

In addition, dedicated relationship managers assist with complex cross-border transactions. Partnerships with insurers provide diaspora clients with access to family protection, life insurance, and repatriation cover.

Other major institutions, including NCBA, KCB Bank, I&M Bank, and Nedbank, have introduced initiatives to attract Kenyan customers living abroad. Specialist firms such as Diaspora Insurance continue to address niche needs, particularly in funeral and repatriation cover.
