Kenya: Poacher shot dead after his gang killed an elephant

FILE – In this Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 file photo, rangers of the Kenya Wildlife Service and Kenya Forest Service take cover while engaging in a mock ambush as they stage a demonstration of the skills they have learned over the last few days of joint anti-poaching training with Britain’s 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, in the forest near Nanyuki, Kenya. Wildlife rangers killed an armed poacher in a shootout after he and others infiltrated the private Choke Ranch in Kenya’s south and shot dead an elephant, Kenya Wildlife Service said Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, and the surviving poachers fled before they could cut off the elephant tusks, the service said.
