Kenya, Canada Partner to Expand Job Opportunities for Workers

Kenya is strengthening its partnership with Canada to create more employment opportunities and develop its workforce.
This initiative follows recent talks between Kenyan officials and Canada’s High Commissioner, Joshua Tabah, in Nairobi, where discussions centred on the proposed Kenya–Canada Labour Mobility Framework. This framework aims to facilitate pathways for Kenyan professionals to access jobs in Canada while enhancing training systems in both countries, particularly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields and emerging industries.
A visit by a Canadian delegation, led by the Deputy Minister for Education and Labour from New Brunswick, has further advanced the initiative, emphasising collaboration in technical training and addressing labour shortages in Canada. Kenyan officials have expressed support for the idea of provincial-level partnerships complementing federal agreements to speed up implementation.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1965, Kenya and Canada have worked together on various fronts. Both countries are now focused on finalising agreements, including a Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement, which aims to enhance investor confidence and safeguard capital flows.
