Kenya Aviation Workers Union issues 7-day strike notice

The Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU) has issued a seven-day strike ultimatum to the government and the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) over unresolved labour issues.
Addressing the press on Tuesday, KAWU Secretary General Moses Ndiema raised concerns over the lack of salary reviews for workers who have served for more than 11 years.
He accused KCAA of discrimination against some employees and warned of severe consequences if the issues are not addressed within the stipulated period.
“We will close the airspace, ground everything, and shut down all Kenyan airports. This is a warning. If they do not intervene and resolve our issues within seven days, we will take action,” Ndiema said.
Walter Ongeri echoed the concerns, calling on the government to intervene immediately to avert a crisis in the aviation sector and “save face” before operations are disrupted.
