Joy as Kenyan Woman Returns from the US, Reunites with Son After 23 Years of Separation

A Kenyan woman based in the US could not hide her joy after seeing her son for the first time in many years.

Beatrice Wanjiku landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Saturday aboard a Kenya Airways flight.

Here, she reunited with her son Alfred Macharia after being apart for 23 years, according to a Twitter post by Kenya Airways.

“Alfred Macharia had not seen his mum, Beatrice Wanjiku face to face for 23 years until today (Saturday) when she arrived in Nairobi from the US,” KQ wrote on Twitter.

Through Twitter, Macharia had earlier requested Kenya Airways for a special Captain’s message to his mum.

Captain Simon Musau and First Officer Anthony Adeya, who were in charge of the KQ flight carrying Macharia’s mum to Kenya, delivered the message to her in person.

“Happy reunion Macharia and Beatrice, enjoy and welcome home, mum!” Kenya Airways added.
