High Stakes for the World Trade Organization in Nairobi, Kenya
In less than a week trade ministers from across the world will come together at the10th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Nairobi, Kenya from 15 to 18 December 2015. As the Chair, I am very excited by the hope and promise of this meeting.
Just over 14 years ago, the WTO launched the Doha Round of multilateral trade negotiations. It was officially launched at the WTO’s Fourth Ministerial Conference in Doha, Qatar, in November 2001. The 9/11 atrocities had occurred a mere two months before. Those events strengthened the resolve of WTO members to show that economies with varied priorities and interests could come together with a shared purpose.READ MORE
