Foreign nationals banned from adopting children

A special Cabinet meeting held at State House, Nairobi on Thursday 12th September 2019 has banned the adoption of children by foreign nationals.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has also been directed to create a new policy document to regulate the adoption of children by foreign nationals in Kenya.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has been ordered to streamline operations of the Child Welfare Society of Kenya and those of children homes in the country.

Ethiopia also has a ban on Child adoption by foreign nationals. Rwanda lifted the ban in 2017.
