Triple Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon was only 06.42 seconds from making history on Thursday, when the track legend finished just short of becoming the first woman to run a mile in less than four minutes.
Kipyegon ran the mile at Stade Charléty in Paris in an impressive four minutes and 06. 42 seconds, smashing her own world mark of 4:07.64 by 01:22 seconds and raising hopes that one of world sport’s most famous barriers for women could be broken.
