DCI: Five to face murder, attempted murder charges in C&M Lounge shooting

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has concluded investigations into a shooting incident at C&M Lounge in Kitengela, Kajiado County, and recommended that five people be charged with murder and attempted murder.
In a press statement dated February 24, 2026, the DCI said the shooting occurred in the early hours of Sunday, January 25, 2026, prompting detectives to launch investigations and secure the scene for processing.

According to the statement, a team led by the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) Isinya, working with Crime Scene Investigators, documented the scene and recovered key exhibits including spent cartridges for forensic examination.

The DCI said that on January 26, 2026, experts from the National Forensic Laboratory — including specialists in ballistics, imaging and acoustics — conducted a detailed examination of the scene, and additional evidence was collected, including analysis of available CCTV footage.

Investigators also submitted three firearms surrendered by individuals under investigation for ballistic examination, with the forensic report received by the investigating team. A total of 11 people recorded statements during the inquiry.

Upon completing investigations, the SCCIO Isinya forwarded the investigation file, brief and recommendations to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), Kajiado, on February 2, 2026.

The inquiry recommended that five suspects be charged with murder under Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code, and with attempted murder under Section 220 of the Penal Code, in relation to the shooting of Kevin Shepashina Maselie and Joseph Kasio, who were in hospital at the time, respectively.
