Charlton boss Jones tips Sichenje to shine for the Addicks

Charlton Athletic head coach Nathan Jones has tipped Harambee Stars centre-back Collins Sichenje to thrive at The Valley after he signed for the club on Sunday.
The former AFC Leopards man signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Addicks from Serbian SuperLiga side FK Vojvodina.

Jones hailed Sichenje’s athleticism, aggressiveness and technical ability labelling him a player that will be key for his side.

“He is aggressive, athletic and technically really good. We are glad to have him,” Jones said in a press conference on Thursday.

The 52-year-old added that Sichenje will take time to adapt to Championship football but will be important to the team.

According to Jones, they were lucky to sign the 22-year-old during the winter transfer window because he had been earmarked for the summer.

However, Jones did not disclose when Sichenje would make his debut, casting doubt on his appearance against Queens Park Rangers (QPR).

“Sichenje is a super athlete but he will take time to adapt to the Championship league. He’s available for us and I know he will be an important player.”

Sichenje was Charlton’s seventh signing of the winter transfer window following Luke Chambers, Harry Clarke, Lyndon Dykes, Conor Coady, Tiernan Brooks and Jayden Fevrier.

The Addicks will welcome QPR at The Valley Arena on Friday at 11:00pm, seeking a win to move further away from relegation.

They currently sit 18th on the log with 35 points after 29 matches.
