CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE: NRSD’S MS. MACHARIA HONORED WITH NATIONAL AWARD!

Nashoba Regional School District — January 21, 2025
We are thrilled to announce that Ms. Jacqueline Macharia, a dedicated educator at Luther Burbank Middle School, has received the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)! This is the highest honor a K-12 math or science teacher can achieve in the United States, recognizing her exceptional dedication and profound impact on her students and the entire school community.
Earning this national recognition is an extraordinary accomplishment. The PAEMST is one of the most rigorous and selective awards in education. Eligible teachers undergo a comprehensive application process that showcases their expertise, teaching strategies, and impact. This application is then evaluated by state and national panels of distinguished educators, scientists, and mathematicians. Each year, only up to 110 educators across the nation are selected for this honor, making it a rare and exceptional achievement.
Ms. Macharia’s commitment to excellence, her deep understanding of her subject matter, and her ability to inspire growth in every student make her a standout educator and an invaluable member of our school community. Her dedication is truly inspiring, setting a standard for others to follow.
What makes this recognition even more meaningful is that it began with a parent who nominated Ms. Macharia. They witnessed firsthand the incredible impact she has on her students and their families. This powerful testament highlights the difference Ms. Macharia continues to make in countless lives.
In her characteristic humility, Ms. Macharia credits her success to her colleagues and the collaborative environment at our school. She often says, “I stand on the shoulders of others,” reflecting her gratitude for the support of her peers.
We couldn’t be prouder of Ms. Macharia and her remarkable achievement. To learn more about this exciting award, check out The White House Press Release celebrating Ms. Macharia and her outstanding contributions to education!
