7 suspects detained over Thika businesswoman murder

A Thika magistrate has allowed officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation to detain seven suspects arrested over the murder of a Thika businesswoman.

The suspects will be detained for seven days at Kirwara Police Station pending investigations.

Among the suspects is the deceased’s son-in-law Cyrin Conrad Chege and her house help Purity Wanjiru Gatugo.

The other suspects are Vinius Mariga Ngugi, Tom Kariuki Kiungo, John Maina Mwangi, James Munene Gatugo and John Wanyoike Muturi.

They were arrested following the killing of Mrs Joyce Wambui Githitu at her house in Maki estate in Murang’a County.

Police said they expect to make more arrests.

Police say the businesswoman was hit twice by a blunt object suspected to be a crowbar found at the scene of crime.

The case shall be mentioned on March 9.
